Sex Pistols
The Sex Pistols were the brain-child of Malcolm
McLaren who had the foresight to recognise talent in Johnny
Rotten because he was wearing a Pink Floyd T-Shirt with the
words "I hate" written above the band's name and
the shirt was full of tears held together with safety pins...
Remarkable bad taste that yelled 'Rebellion' and punk entered
the public domain with great songs like Pretty Vacant and
the anarchic God Save The Queen sang with lyrics spitting
anti-royalist sarcasm like Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious spat
at the audience. The Sex Pistols were an affront to the establishment
which meant they immediately found an audience in disfunctional
youth who needed alternative music to the Glam Rock that was
now looking tired. In my opinion, when the band began to write
their own songs, with Glen Matlock mainly writing the music
and Johnny Rotten the supposed lyricist, they discovered a
unique voice that spoke to a generation. It is a shame that
Johnny Rotten and Glen Matlock apparently hated each other
because, in my humble opinion, the world is poorer because
of the songs that never got written. I bought Never Mind The
Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols and played the record over
and over again, but that is it! There isn't anymore... Shame
really, but that one album is now an iconic piece of music
history... Watch the video below as Johnny Rotten declares
Anarchy In The UK! Simply raw brilliance...
