James Brown
James Brown is as known as the King of Funk.
I heard a version of I Feel Good once and it just seemed to
go on forever. I haven't been able to find that particular
version again, but once you get into the groove of a James
Brown number, you can't help but get up and dance and once
dancing you just want to dance forever. I'm trying to think
of a meaningful lyric from James Brown and I can't, but his
music just gets inside you and moves you in deep and profound
ways. I sometimes find myself singing I feel Good and I feel
myself losing inhibition and freaking out - in a nice sort
of way. Somehow James Brown's rhythm begins to ooze from me
like a drug - or is that my imagination? Whatever, I'm a fan,
a big fan. I try not to use the word genius too much because
I think we are often too quick to use it, but when I think
of James Brown I find the word rising in my throat and I'm
trying to offer you a definitive reason why... The only word
I can offer is rhythm. Simple as that... Great, addictive,
irresistible rhythm...
