Elton John
Art, drama and music is peopled by big personalities.
Now and again a larger-than-life character comes along who
even eclipses the immense personalities he or she shares the
world stage with. Elton John is such a personality. Elton
isn't your sterotypical pop star. When I first watched him
performing Rocket Man on Top of the Pops the road ahead of
hit after hit, of journey from pop star to international mega-star
wasn't apparent to me, but now, with the luxury of hindsight,
I can only applaud a truly brilliant, remarkable talent.
We all have a favourite Elton John song. My
favourite is Your Song, but what about Daniel? That is one
of my all time favourites too! There are just so many to choose
from and each one is exceptional. Elton John is a genuine
icon and, together with lyricist Bernie Taupin, he has penned
an ageless, extraordinarily rich library of songs which will
be listened to for generations to come. I would even go as
far as to say, Elton John's immense talent is now etched into
the very fabric of our culture. That is remarkable.
