Bryan Ferry
From the moment they first appeared on Top of
the Pops blasting out Virginia Plain, Roxy Music were utterly
and outrageously original. The songs were written by Bryan
Ferry and the style and presentation was unique. The group
began as an artistic idea by Bryan Ferry where the bands image
and the music created live art and the genre he went for must
have been abstract. Roxy Music was and still is very, very
different. Being a dedicated fan of Marc Bolan and T.Rex at
the time, I wasn't instantly a fan of the group, but I did
love the song Virginia Plain. The first three albums of Roxy
Music were so original in style, construction and content
that it took me a while to acquire the taste, but like Guinness,
once I had a taste for Roxy Music I was totally addicted.
In my humble opinion, Bryan Ferry has now reached legendary
status, thus this page on this website.
I remember through the eighties when Bryan appeared
to be on a quest for the purest form of music. The albums
came slowly and when Bryan finally decided to sate the fans
starvation the music style was again, at the time, unique.
He would take me into dreamlike worlds where the atmosphere
was layered in textures of sensual arousal. Some of Bryan's
lyrics have had a profound influence upon my philosophy of
life. His words "All the world, even you, should learn
to love the way I do..." echo loudly in my experiences
in love today. In truth, Bryan Ferry is a part of who I am,
and if that ain't art I don't know what is. Big respect to
you, Bryan Ferry. The influence of your creative genius will
touch many generations to come...
