The Bee Gees
The Bee Gees are the guys who wrote the biggest
popular hit songs of my generation. Saturday Night Fever,
Staying Alive, Jive Talkin, More Than A Woman, Grease... The
list just goes on and on... I was discussing my Music Greats
list with a friend who argued I couldn't include The Bee Gees
and expect to be taken seriously! I argued that I couldn't
do a website on Music Greats WITHOUT including The Bee Gees!
The three Gibbs brothers are simply incredible, original talents,
together they are awesome. But, for me, Barry Gibb and his
falsetto voice has stamped the trademark Bee Gees sound with
his own truly original fingerprint and in 1978, Barry Gibb
became the only songwriter to have four straight number one
hits in the U.S.A, breaking the John Lennon and Paul McCartney
1964 record. These songs were Stayin' Alive, Love Is Thicker
Than Water, Night Fever, and If I Can't Have You.
Even today, when I hear Saturday Night Fever
being played, the hairs on the back of my neck leap to attention.
I want to dance and grab the nearest girl. I'm eighteen again
and, thanks to the Bee Gees, I feel great! My deep respect
to you guys...
